Fertility, Preconception Health, and the Clues Your Body May Be Giving You

Fertility is about so much more than the ability to become pregnant. It can be a powerful reflection of what is happening throughout the body.

I recently joined Heather Brown on the Healthy by Heather Brown podcast to talk about the fertility challenges so many women and couples are facing today, and why I believe this conversation needs to expand beyond the ovaries, sperm, and reproductive hormones alone.

In this episode, I share why infertility can sometimes be the body’s way of signaling that something deeper needs attention. Factors such as inflammation, toxin exposure, nutrient depletion, blood sugar imbalance, stress, sleep disruption, hormone changes, mitochondrial health, and postpartum depletion can all influence reproductive health.

Heather and I also talked about the importance of preparing the body before conception. The months before pregnancy can be a meaningful window to support egg and sperm health, reduce toxic burden, replenish nutrients, improve resilience, and create a healthier foundation for pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and the baby’s lifelong health.

We also explored secondary infertility, supplement support, detoxification, what to consider when navigating IVF, and important red flags that may be missed when fertility is treated as a purely reproductive issue.

My hope is that this conversation helps women and couples feel less discouraged and more empowered. Whether you are trying to conceive now, planning ahead, rebuilding your health postpartum, or simply wanting to better understand your body, there are practical steps you can take to support fertility and long-term wellness.
