Applesauce is a snack that so many of us loved as children but have never actually made ourselves. As it turns out, it’s not only delicious, but it’s also easy to make for you or your kids.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 lbs of apples
  • 1 cup sugar-free apple juice or water
  • 1/2 lemon, juice
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • Sterilized glasses for filling

INSTRUCTIONS

Peel the apples, cut off rotten spots and remove the core. Cut the fruits into pieces and place them in a large pan. Add the apple juice, the lemon juice and the sugar and mix everything. Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the cinnamon sticks to the apples. Cook on a low heat and bring to the boil. Cook very softly for approximately 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Remove the cinnamon sticks and the vanilla pod. Puree the fruits with the hand blender and boil the puree again with constant stirring. Immediately fill in the sterilized glasses and seal them airtight.
